That was fun. Alameda is ready to do it again.
Within days of Oracle USA winning AC33 off the coast of Spain in 2010, Alamedans sprang into action. Local sailing enthusiasts, maritime businesses, and city representatives formed the America's Cup Ad Hoc Committee to help Alameda benefit from the 34th America's Cup on San Francisco Bay.
Artemis and Luna Rossa — two of the challengers for AC34 — set up their official bases right here at Alameda Point. The team families lived in our neighborhoods and attended our schools. We shared community events and helped Alameda maritime and hospitality businesses thrive during the regatta.
Whenever a major regatta or world-class sailing event heads to San Francisco Bay, Alameda stands ready with deep water berths, expansive shore facilities, and an unmatched maritime community.
