Transit Information - Visit Alameda by Land

Public Transit

Regional transit authorities are making it easy for visitors to get around on public transit. "Clipper Cards" are universal tickets for all transit modes, including ferries, BART trains, MUNI (streetcars, buses, and trains in SF), and AC Transit buses. If you are visiting, you will be able to buy these Clipper Cards online especially for America's Cup so you don't have to hassle once you are here.

There is also an Estuary Crossing Shuttle during commute hours that can carry 12 bicycles.

Getting to Alameda By Car

To come and go from Alameda by car, you will either cross 1 of 4 drawbridges or drive under the estuary through "the tube." We aren't the easiest place to get to via car but once you are here, there is plenty of parking -- along with several attractions and two downtown districts.

Bike Alameda

BikeAlameda.org is a great resource for getting around Alameda on a bike. They have online and printed bike maps and a very handy guide to Alameda bike shops.

Be sure to ride across our famous drawbridge/bikebridge (pictured above) linking Alameda's main island to Bay Farm "Island." Bay Farm is no longer an island (it connects with Oakland and now includes Oakland International Airport) but has scenic bike paths along the shoreline.
