SF GAte Mayor Gavin Newsom and members of his economic development team met today with software billionaire Larry Ellison to get feedback on the city's proposal to host the next America's Cup, sailing's premier event.
Officials were tight-lipped on the discussions at City Hall as San Francisco vies with offers from Spain and Italy to host a sporting event with an economic payoff exceeded only by the Olympics and soccer's World Cup, according to a recent study.
"It's an important ... big-presentation meeting," Newsom said beforehand. "We're putting together all the details."
