How can your business benefit from America's Cup?

Pasta Pelican Waterfront Restaurant

This is what everyone is trying to figure out, and is the general purpose of Alameda's America's Cup Committee.

This is what we know: The America's Cup in San Francisco Bay is the size of 3 Super Bowls and is expected to bring 1.4 billion dollars of economic activity to the Bay Area. (Follow the Economic Impact news thread on this website for the latest expectations and developments.)

There will be approximately 58 racing days covering a 75-day period with millions of visitors. People will be arriving by car, plane, train, recreational boat, megayacht, and luxury motor coach. There will be **MASSIVE** publicity and media broadcasting worldwide from San Francisco Bay.

Alameda has a unique opportunity given our location and maritime assets. The World Series arrives Summer 2012 and then the main events (Louis Vuitton Challenger Cup and Finals against Defender Oracle) run early-July through mid-September 2013. (View America's Cup Timeline.)

Peak racing days are expected to draw 500,000 to San Francisco's northern waterfront and on boats lining the perimeter of the race area. While you can't see the action from here, Alameda is a natural "feeder" or staging area for getting to prime viewing areas.

With 2 ferry terminals, hundreds of potential charter vessels, thousands of boat slips, close vicinity, and plenty of parking, Alameda may very well be the Gateway to AC34 from the East Bay. There will be thousands of people passing through and hopefully spending some additional time here to eat, shop, ride bikes, taste wine, visit the Hornet, and maybe even stay a couple of nights.

So where does your business fit in?

We have prepared a presentation to help local businesses understand what will be taking place. DOWNLOAD the PDF PRESENTATION.
